Synopsis

Australian podcast star Narelle Fraser is The Policewoman. For 27 years as a Victoria Police detective, she confronted some of the nation’s most disturbing crimes. Her unorthodox methods — grounded in deep empathy and an uncanny ability to connect— often delivered extraordinary breakthroughs, even as they raised eyebrows amongst her colleagues. But that exceptional sensitivity also left her vulnerable. After decades on the frontline, Narelle was overwhelmed by cumulative trauma and PTSD, fighting to hold onto her identity as the job threatened to consume her. This immersive true-crime documentary traces Narelle’s journey through meticulously crafted miniature dioramas — a world she controls, reshapes, and revisits to map her descent and recovery. It’s an extraordinary story of confronting the darkest corners of human nature, battling the psychological toll of service, and clawing back triumph from the edge.
